Joy; 52 weeks of FUN; Linda Barry Photography; Portland ME Photographer

This week’s theme in the 52 Weeks of FUN is “Joy.” One of the most important things in my life right now is establishing a better relationship with God. Now, I’m sure I’m breaking a billion social media rules by posting about this. However, I would just like to say that this is a part of who I am, and I am not afraid of sharing my feelings and thoughts with you all. I will also never push my views on you. Ever.

Except for when it comes to bragging about how awesome PASS is and how every person should use it and love it 😀 That, and! But other than that, it won’t happen!

A friend of mine that I use to be close with in high school sent me this book in the mail after I reached out to her about my desires. She’s easily one of the greatest people I know, and she is SO helpful when it comes to stuff like this. She helped me realize what I wanted a little over two years ago, and was so supportive and helpful, but I didn’t stick with it. This time is different. I feel like I’ve been seeing signs everywhere I go, and I’m ready to take it and run (in a good way!).

Seeing this book in the mail brought me incredible joy and happiness, and I can’t wait to start reading it! It’s one of my personal goals that I be healthy in spirit before I decide to bring children into this world. I also want to know that I have a greater purpose in life. It’s just a good feeling. I know it’s not going to happen overnight, but I’m positive that I will be able to get that relationship I so desperately want. As a science teacher, it’s hard for me to get over some of the “obstacles,” so to speak, about faith and how it all makes sense. This led Amy to recommend a second book to me, The Case for Faith, which I ordered and can’t wait to read!! I’m excited, and I’m nervous. I’m slightly afraid of how people will deal with these personal changes of mine (even though I don’t think ME is going to change that much at all), but that’s okay, because I live my life for me because I am the one who has to live with my choices!

It (the book) also looks, and feels, super cool. It’s little and easy to fit in any little bag.

Yes, I totally judge a book by its pages. And yes, this one totally passes my judgement :p

2013 Fitness Goals; Linda Barry Photography; Portland ME Photographer

Everyone always makes a new year’s resolution, or many, as the end of each year comes to a close. Many people don’t stick to them, and many of them do! I try to set realistic goals for myself that I feel are important enough to me to keep me motivated to actually stick to them! Instead of making “resolutions” per se, I decided to create some fitness goals that I felt I could accomplish this year. Getting myself healthy is super important to me, and is a non-negotiable when it comes to starting a family in the future. If I don’t take care of myself, everything else will fall apart! Keeping a balanced life between relaxation, work, and play is something I totally strive for!

Here is my list of fitness goals for 2013!

#1. Do handstand push-ups

#2. Run from my apartment, to back bay, around back bay, and back home without stopping.

#3. Be able to climb a 5.10

#4. Be able to boulder a blue square at the Maine Rock Gym

#5. Have a six-pack 🙂

#6. Work out and do yoga, on a regular, frequent basis.

#7. Be able to squat 135 pounds.

#8. Bench press 80 pounds.

#9. Have awesome back muscles!

#10. Be able to run a 5k in under 30 minutes.

#11. Be able to do ten pull ups.

#12. Improve my running form to be more natural.

What are some of your goals for 2013?? Stay tuned for a post about some of my business goals for 2013!

Week #2- Asymmetrical; 52 Weeks of FUN; Linda Barry Photography

This is my entry to this week’s theme: asymmetrical! I was thinking about how hard it is going to be to find something that I considered asymmetrical (even after my husband listed off a ton of things) while making my meal plan for the next week, when I looked up and noticed my lamp is asymmetrical!! 🙂 I was SO excited that I had finally found something! I just knew this had to be a black&white entry because it’s all just so shiny 🙂

For those who are following along, feel free to post your photos here, or on my facebook! I will be making blog posts periodically that have everyone’s photos who are participating!

Motivational Tuesday; Linda Barry Photography; Portland, ME Photographer

Well, today was one of those days. One of those hit-you-like-a-ton-of-bricks days, but in the most positive way I could ever imagine! Today was the first day out of a series of three days for  reFOCUS2013, in which several speakers talk about the ways that they’ve revitalized their businesses. I was only able to catch two of the seminars today due to school, but the two I did catch were so perfect. Let’s also just say that Khara Plicanic is easily one of my new heroes. And, as I mentioned on facebook earlier today, she’s pretty much the only other person I’ve heard lately use the word “bonkers” as much as I do! That automatically puts her high on my list :p

Anyway, I listened to her one hour seminar and I was just blown away. It was like she was speaking to my soul. I’m a very simple person, and like to keep things as simple as possible. The ways that she talked about running her business just made so much sense, and I couldn’t agree with more! It also gave me the renewed energy to tackle my business from a different perspective.  Plus, she’s super passionate about what she does and you can just tell by listening to her talk about it, and that is absolutely phenomenal. I also listened to Julia Woods talk today, and she gave me that extra push I needed to re-evaluate my own personal life, and really open up my heart. She helped me realize that there are some values that I have been skimping out on, and without getting those in check, everything else in my life won’t be completely fulfilling.

2013 is my year.

I am determinedcommitted, and completely ready to make it happen. I will achieve all my goals and desires, and I will do it without sacrificing my values and my happiness.

I feel so…
